Easy Healthy Summer Recipes for Busy Families

Easy Healthy Summer Recipes for a Feel-Good Season

Summer is upon us, and that means different things to different people. It’s prepping for big trips or reunions, maybe even weddings or a few weeks at the lake. Regardless of what summer has planned for you, I think we can all agree that feeling good in the summer is the most important. We want to feel balanced when we travel, we want to feel like we’re a part of making memories, not just floating by. And honestly, having easy, healthy summer recipes on hand can make all the difference when schedules get busy and life feels nonstop.

A Season Full of Change

I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve always been a summer mom, which is ironic because summertime is a little harder for my husband to cope with. He also works from home and finds it a little overstimulating, which is fair. Seems like these last few years have been a constant season of change. We never truly know what to expect because it’s always changing. We now have a driver and two high schoolers. They play different sports, so additional schedules to manage in addition to their already demanding club schedules. Our middle schooler is switching schools to align with the group she will be going to high school with. Thank goodness, our elementary girlie is staying put and happy just doing clinics and training right now, because our capacity for a busy schedule for her is low.

As many of y’all know, having high schoolers play fall sports combined with club sports doesn’t leave much leeway in schedules. To add to that, our third child qualified for nationals, which we are so proud of, but not eager to make the cross-country trek. A couple of places you might find us this Summer: the Carolinas x 3, Missouri, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Seattle, Eastern TN, and I know I'm forgetting some spots. Sadly, none of these are for vacation, but we will make it to our lake cottage for a few days in late June before the demands continue. I have some sadness about this stage of life, not gonna lie. It’s not the carefree summer that it used to be. Our two oldest both want to play in college, so staying on top of that world is a priority. But it doesn’t erase the yearning for the relaxed Summers.

Finding Energy Through Wellness Shifts

Thankfully, our girls love to sleep in on summer mornings, which gives me a few hours to create amazing offerings and support for my nutrition community… You guys! During the school year, my schedule is usually: work from 5-6 am, wake kids up and start breakfast and lunches, and that process lasts til around 8:30. Then work again til around 3 when all the pick-ups start again. From there, it’s running kids from 3-9 pm! So if you look at it this way, it’s a little more flexible. Currently, I’m transitioning into a new productivity phase, but if you know me, I absolutely love spending time with my kiddos, so I carve out plenty of time for that.

One thing I've noticed over the last 1-2 years is that I’m up for anything: 2-on-2 driveway basketball, random pickleball or tennis outings, hiking, swimming in the pool, and local adventures. I made a few shifts to produce this kinda energy for making memories. I focused on optimal numbers for my metabolic system: added extended fasting, shifted to early dinners, eliminated the weekly glass of wine, focused more on fiber and protein than I ever have, and focused on anti-inflammation, whether that’s biohacking with food or other therapies. And the result is that I’m up for anything!!! I’ve always been a high-energy person, but it was more like hyper energy. These days, it’s more like regulated, focused, and present energy.

Why Easy, Healthy Summer Recipes Matter

It’s not really a lot of secrets either, it’s not more time for my wellness, it’s more just a shift. Everything becomes intuitive when it FEELS GOOD. When you feel good, your body wants more of the same, it shifts the way you look at health, it creates a sustainable approach because you don’t revert back to certain habits when the shifts of feeling good take over!

Inside The Feel-Good Summer Challenge

We put so much thought and effort into the 2-week Feel-Good Summer Challenge. We have two recipe developers and nutritionists who write these plans. We started the recipes fully AIP (Auto-Immune Protocol), then made some adjustments to make them work for the whole family while also guaranteeing you see huge changes in your own body. I literally get chills thinking of the results we are going to see and hear in just two weeks.

Think: strawberry shortcake but anti-inflammatory, bacon-wrapped kabobs but life-giving, quick, easy meals the whole family and extended families will love. If you’ve ever wanted to put your family's health first in the summer but didn’t want a huge commitment to do it…this is it! This is the plan!!
