Please welcome Allison, our new nutritionist!!

Posted by Cara Busson Clark on Feb 25th 2013

Hi guys! I want to take this opportunity to introduce our new Nutritionist that I recently welcomed to the Cara Clark Nutrition team, Allison Long. I could not be more pleased with her level of care and knowledge. With our third baby coming in the next few weeks, the timing of meeting each other could not have been more perfect. Together, we plan to keep the momentum and raise our level of service to our amazing clients.

Allison is originally from the state of Georgia, where she earned two Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Georgia in Dietetics & Consumer Foods. Shortly after graduating, she married her college sweetheart, an officer in the United States Marine Corps. Since then, she has learned to live by the adage “home is where the Marine Corps sends us”, having moved from Georgia, to Virginia, to California, all within a short period time.

While stationed at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Allison had the privilege of working with the Marine Corps’ Semper Fit program, where she guided Marines and their families on a variety of health and nutrition-related issues: one-on-one counseling, meal planning, performance nutrition, weight loss/gain/maint, nutrition education classes on various topics, healthy cooking classes for both adults and children, healthy grocery store tours. At the Virginia Department of Health, Allison worked with pre- and post-natal mothers, infants, and young children, providing vital nutrition education and one-on-one counseling to low-income families in need.

For as long as she can remember, Allison has always had a passion for health, fitness, and nutrition. One of her favorite things to do in her spare time is experiment in the kitchen. Whether modifying recipes to make them healthier, testing out new ones, or playing around with ingredients to prepare a new creation, she is always looking for ways to make healthy food taste delicious!

Allison believes in a teaching philosophy that discourages traditional “dieting” and encourages an overall healthy lifestyle focusing on variety, moderation, and balance. She feels that it is her calling in life is to use her knowledge and talents to help as many people as possible to lead longer, happier, more fulfilling lives—and she can’t think of a more perfect outlet for that than here at Cara Clark Nutrition :)
