This one is extra special to me because I've known Ashlee for years and I know she's followed my philosophy for awhile too! She's a super busy Mom of 2 and wife and is very committed to giving her family a healthy, but sustainable lifestyle. I will say I think the real reason she sticks around is because she likes the energy bites :)
Here's what she has to say about the challenge program:
"I’ve been a fan of Cara’s smoothie recipes for a few years now. I love the ease of prepping several at a time, throwing them in the freezer and grabbing for breakfast or meal on the go. I recently completed my first CCN Challenge and I can’t say enough amazing things about it.
My reason for doing the CCN Challenge was twofold. Stabilize my blood sugar and kick my little (big) sugar habit. I am a mama to two awesome kiddos, Antonella, 5, and JJ who is 8 months old. JJ is a great baby, but sleep definitely isn’t his thing. Exhausted, I found myself reaching for more and more caffeine and sugary treats to keep my energy up to meet the needs of both kiddos. As someone who has struggled with low blood sugar throughout my life and especially while nursing, I found myself feeling the effects of either not eating often enough or the sudden drops after consuming sugary treats. I knew it was time to search for a different solution to my same old problems.
I’ve always considered myself a healthy eater so I didn’t think Cara’s plan was going to be too different from how I usually cook and eat. Well, I was wrong in the best way possible. It’s simple, it’s delicious and it just makes sense. It’s not a diet, it truly is a life style. You’re not counting calories or macros. The only thing I’m counting are my colors. After a CCN Challenge you will look for your 5 colors a day. The recipes are delicious and not once did I feel like I was missing out, “dieting” or depriving myself of something (ok, maybe I missed wine just a bit).
After a few days on the plan I got the hang of prepping for the next day to be successful. It really just takes a little time and forethought to make sure you are fueling your body the way you should. I prep my kiddos snacks and make sure I pack those when we go out, why wouldn’t I do the same for myself? It’s that oxygen mask mindset. You have to take care of yourself in order to take care of those you love. The time I spent cooking and preparing food has been given back to my kiddos tenfold, because I have the energy to give them my best.
While on the challenge and post challenge I haven’t had a single low blood sugar episode. I have really learned to listen to my body and eat to fuel it appropriately. My cravings for sugar are drastically down and I find healthier ways to get my chocolate fix. If you haven’t tried the chocolate pudding you don’t know what you are missing! Bonus, I dropped 7 pounds while on the plan. I feel better, look better and have so much more energy to keep up with my kiddos. It’s called a Challenge because it changes you. It changes the way you shop, prep, cook, eat and pair food. I’m forever grateful to Cara and her team for what they did to help me think differently about food to achieve the energy, health and body I wanted."
