Age Gracefully? Nah—Age Powerfully!

My Go-To Anti-Aging Essentials

My Go-To Anti-Aging Essentials

I turned 41 two weeks ago, and honestly? I feel really good about it. Not just because of how I look, but because of how I feel—clearer, stronger, more grounded, and more connected to my body than I ever was in my 20s. With every year, I’m learning that aging isn’t something to fear or fight—it’s something we can support. Sure, I’ve got my eye on a few aesthetic treatments (I’m looking at you, microneedling!), However, the real magic lies in how we care for ourselves on a daily basis. So, in honor of another trip around the sun, I want to share some of my favorite anti-aging practices—ones that go beyond skin deep and help us age with energy, vitality, and grace.

When you follow the CCN way of life, you’re already drinking from the fountain of youth, and it’s not only natural, it’s graceful too. Our approach is to halt oxidation in its tracks, not only to maintain the youthfulness of your appearance but also to preserve your organ systems and cellular turnover. With all the colorful foods that CCN brings to your tables, you’re already doing this. By eating your macros combined, you’re giving yourself the best chance of absorbing these HIGH-powered nutrients.

I also wanted to briefly mention that all this anti-aging stuff can and will happen once we’ve healed underlying health conditions, and friends, I hope you know by now, you can heal! First, we change our food and lifestyle by decreasing toxins all around us, then we give our bodies a better chance at healing. We create an environment inside that helps our bodies function optimally. You’re here, you’re doing it, and it takes time. Be patient and loving with yourself.

So with that foundation in place—and knowing that real, lasting change starts from the inside—it’s time to layer on some of the habits and tools that can genuinely support graceful aging. These are the things I turn to regularly, not just for how they help me look younger, but for how they help me feel stronger, sharper, and more vibrant. From what’s on your plate to how you move your body (and even a little help from modern tech!), here’s a closer look at the practices that can make a big difference in how we age—inside and out.

Food

As mentioned, you’re already doing this with the antioxidants found in your colors (fruit and vegetables). But you can make a point of adding in more omega-3, like from fish and chia seeds. You can get a daily dose of wild blueberries, which are shown to be the most potent antioxidants on the face of the planet that are easily accessible. You can add in more ginger, which is rich in gingerol, preventing us from breaking down collagen, and lastly, jump on those aloe trends. Add it to smoothies, soups, or anything liquid-based.

Beverages

Who hasn’t heard of green tea by now? Yes, this is the best beverage to keep you youthful from your metabolic system to your skin. Our bodies need plenty of water, and hydration really shows in your deep creases, so drink up and don’t forget those electrolytes, if needed.

Supplements

I don’t just supplement for the heck of it. When I use something, I consider it medicine for whatever needs I may have. These can vary and change. Thankfully, with no current health or medical issues, I’m focused on brain health, metabolism, muscular health, and immune function, and man, did I find the bingo of all supplements for this! Here’s my anti-aging hero when it comes to supplemental health.

And if you’re not eating fish regularly, you will significantly benefit from taking an omega-3 for healthy aging.

Exercise

I cannot stress this enough, but resistance training is the king of all when it comes to long-term health. Our muscular system is a part of our endocrine system, which means that our hormone health relies on strong muscles. Forget about the scale and let’s get ripped! Seriously, add weights to your routine yesterday! FEEL the difference in how your body responds and notice the impact that it has on your aging. Cardio is great to mix in, but is really hard on our face muscles and sometimes makes us look older faster (which no one wants!) It’s also hard on our joints in the long term. So grab your HEAVY weights and let’s go!

Red Light Therapy

Like so many other things we teach, red light therapy works from the inside out. Red light decreases skin inflammation, smooths skin tone, repairs sun damage, fades scars and stretch marks, and even builds collagen in the skin, which reduces wrinkles. It also heals wounds and can prevent recurring cold sores or herpes simplex. Red light works on the lymphatic system to improve your body’s detoxification abilities by increasing blood flow. It may even stimulate hair growth in your hair follicles.

Infrared Sauna

You all know I love my infrared sauna blanket (code CARA15) for its detox and relaxation benefits. Infrared and red light are similar and yet different. Infrared penetrates the body with heat, unlike red light. Both can work on a cellular level, and red light has more proven anti-aging specific benefits. However, infrared can help alleviate some of the problems that are aging us in the first place, including pain and inflammation, toxin overload, and stress effects, among others. I love my time in the infrared sauna blanket, and compared to buying an in-home sauna or paying for a membership at a sauna spa, the cost per use makes it a worthwhile investment.

Aging is inevitable, but how we age is something we have a lot more control over than we’ve been led to believe. It’s not about chasing youth or avoiding every wrinkle, but about building strength, resilience, and radiance from the inside out. Whether you’re just starting to make changes or already deep into your wellness journey, every choice you make to nourish your body, move intentionally, and reduce stress is a powerful act of self-care. So here’s to aging well, feeling good, and celebrating every year with more energy, confidence, and grace than the last. Let’s keep showing up for ourselves—because the best is still ahead.
